Lieutenant Doyle Carpenter

Lieutenant Carpenter began his career with the City of Anderson Police Department's Uniform Patrol Division in 1994. In 1997, Carpenter was transferred to the Community Patrol Division, as the Public Housing Officer. Carpenter was responsible for patrolling six apartment complexes for the Anderson Housing Authority. Carpenter later transferred to the Community Patrol Bike Team and was assigned to the southeast side of the city. As an officer on the Bike Team, Carpenter patrolled assigned areas on a mountain bike, attended community crime watches, performed talks at area schools, led Christmas toy drives, assisted with Easter Seals, Special Olympics, and established positive ties with the communities he patrolled. Carpenter achieved the rank of Sergeant while on the Bike Team. Carpenter was in charge of supervising the team, the public housing officer, and school resource officers. Carpenter also received training as a negotiator and served as one of the Special Response Teams' crisis negotiators. In 2002, Carpenter transferred to Criminal Investigations as an Investigator of Property Crimes. During this time he completed the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy's Basic Investigator Course. In 2006, Carpenter joined then Lieutenant Blair as a shift sergeant. In 2007, Carpenter was promoted to Lieutenant over the Detention Center. He is in charge of supervising five Detention Teams totaling 29 personnel under the direction of Captain Blair. Carpenter continued his education by attending "Administering the Small Jail" training in Aurora, Colorado in 2007. Carpenter attributes the Detention Center's success to its dedicated and professional employees. Carpenter earned his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice in 1992 from Tri-County Tech.
